Safari Chair Wood Suede, a vintage ‘Safari’ campaign chair, made of wood, black suede leather and brass, 1970s.
Campaign chair of “British Royal Marines”, reflected by the motto and logo on the seal plate from the backside, “Per Mare – Per Terram By Land & By Sea”. This armchair shows very elegant and well designed lines, in combination with carefully crafted wood joints. The black suede leather with multiple straps completes this chair’s characteristic campaign-look. This model takes inspiration from the classic military style. These chairs were designed to be used on the move and so needed to be lightweight and versatile. Originally designed by the London Army and Navy, the chair would roll up with the wooden legs and frame nestled inside for easy transportation. In very good original condition, normal wear and a few scratches. Over all a beautiful patina.
