Tilgmans Keramik Table Lamp, Sweden, early 1950s

Exceptional earthenware table lamp made by Tilgmans Keramik, design attributed to Marian Zawadzki. Large foot lamp richly decorated with a pair of deer to the front and leafage to the backside, realized in sgraffito technique. This type of ceramic is probably the one that, in addition to possibly the animal figures, has been most appreciated in Tilgman’s production. Original shade in soft pink, made of two layers, the outer layer made of pleated veil. Illuminated by an E27 bulb, fit for the US too. Impressed under the bottom “Tilgmans Keramik”, “Made in Sweden” Condition: foot in excellent condition, shade in good used condition, some tears to the inside layer that do not affect in any way the outer appearance or the normal use.
