What is Mid-century Modern Style? Also know as MCM, is an American design movement in interior, product, graphic design, architecture, and urban development that was popular from roughly 1945 to 1969.
The distinguishing features of the Italian MCM style consist of a classic look, clean lines with minimal fuss, minimal ornamentation, design precision and handmade quality.
Functionality is important, as form follows function, traditional as well as non-traditional materials, the juxtaposition of different, and sometimes contrasting materials, new materials such as plastic and Lucite and a large range of colors, including colors from neutral to bold, and graphic use of black and white.
